Congress is scrambling to find a response to a series of recent terrorist attacks, both at home and abroad, that sent shivers through the country and raised questions about the efficacy of the international fight against Islamic State extremists. Bipartisan leaders, facing intense pressure to act following the deadly November attacks in Paris, came together within weeks to enact new visa waiver rules that bolstered screenings for certain travelers to the United States. The rare show of bipartisanship allowed lawmakers to return home for the winter holidays claiming a victory in the seemingly eternal effort to plug holes in the nation's anti-terror defenses. The biggest hole in our terror defenses would have to be our two most prone things that allow this problem, which are our broken immigration system along with our open borders. Those alone are really the only things that allow the problem to be in existence. Honestly the only people doing anything to combat ISIS are the Kurds and Russians. When it comes to America's fight all I see us doing is simply taking out ISIS leadership and not ISIS as a whole. We will never see an end to ISIS if the Obama team continues to think that taking out only ISIS leaders is somehow a victory in this fight. Our lack of proper vetting of our visa program alone is what made the San Bernardino shooters commit their act. The main problems in this fight is paperwork, vetting, and our unprotected borders. If we fixed all those issues we could possibly decrease the chance of terrorism by 75 percent.
