Potential jurors in California are refusing to serve for Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky due to the six-month sentence he handed down to a convicted rapist. June 2, former Stanford student Brock Turner was sent to county jail, along with probation, after a jury unanimously found him guilty on three counts of sexual assault. The conviction carries a potential sentence of up to 14 years in prison. When handing down the significantly lighter sentence, Persky said he feared a harsher punishment would have had a “severe impact” on the champion swimmer who had hopes of competing in the Olympics. So America this judge gave the rapist a light sentence, because of the severe impact on the possible Olympic swimmer. So once again star athletes get treated in court like their victims again. This shows us again that our criminal justice system needs reform, not the Obama reform of releasing criminals. Instead we need a reform of our justice system that makes criminals pay for their crimes with proper punishment no matter who they are. Good on these jurors for telling the judge no when he want's their service, but I feel like these potential jurors will be locked up for opting out of jury duty to this judge who gave a slap on the wrist to a criminal. You know that this judge probably has to be Stanford alumni for the reason of him giving this possible Olympic athlete a light punishment, for his rape act on a female who has probably lost all trust with men. This kid has gone as far as blaming the party culture for his crime. Sorry Mr. Rapist you did the crime do the time. It's time for a court appeal in this case so he get's proper punishment.
