According to a WLOS report, a North Carolina community is upset after being told to stop singing the National Anthem while on a visit to New York City. Waynesville Middle School’s chorus was singing the anthem outside of the 9/11 Memorial while on a trip to New York when security asked them to stop midway through their performance. WLOS reports the 9/11 Memorial requires groups to obtain a permit if they want to perform. Although the students did not have a permit, they were given verbal permission from a security guard. Waynesville Middle School principal Trevor Putnam said, “Basically they performed approximately half of the National Anthem, and they were told by security to cease and desist. And they, of course, complied immediately.” Per Putnam, security “explained to them that they treat that area as a burial site.” Really we can't even let middle school kids show there respect to the victims of 9/11 from singing the National Anthem? America has become a sad sad cesspool of Liberal political correctness. In all honesty it was a security guard who told them to stop, if I was them I would of kept singing. Now we can't sing our nations song at American memorials, especially when it comes to kids. This group of kids just wanted to show they're respects to the victims of 9/11, only to be trampled on by security at one of our nations most sacred memorials. If you are against our customs and our values in America, it is now time for you to leave especially with this utter disrespect. Never knew singing the National Anthem to victims of the greatest attack in American history would be a sign of disrespect to the dead, but in today's America are we really even surprised anymore? One thing I can tell you if the victims of 9/11 could hear it, bet they are even more upset then the kids who got halted from singing the anthem to them.
