The current buildup of forces in Europe is not a reprisal of the Cold War, but the basic concepts are the same, the UK’s representative to NATO has claimed in an apparently contradictory statement. In an interview with Defense News published on Tuesday, Alex Thomson – who took up the role in 2014 – attempted to explain the doctrine of “modern deterrence” in relation to Russia. “I think modern deterrence is referred to in order to emphasize this is not a return to the Cold War,” he argued, before adding the “basic concepts of deterrence haven’t changed.” Referring to a forthcoming NATO conference he argued: “The way we choose to implement it in order to dissuade potential adversaries from doing bad things, persuade them that the costs outweigh the benefits, are going to be, and you’ll see this at Warsaw, really quite innovative.” If your claiming the stand off with Russia is not a new cold war when it's quite similar guess what? The world is in a new Cold War, but the thing is western leaders won't admit to it because they created the stance with Russia. Western leader won't tell you the real reason to this problem is that this is nothing more then a stand off between the IMF and BRICS banks, but NATO and UN leadership don't want to let the world know that this is a banker stand off. So western governments will claim to say things like, action against Russia is due to their war crimes in Syria, when Russia is the only nation trying to truly destroy ISIS. We are in a new Cold War scenario with Russia, do not let the news or western leaders from NATO or the UN tell you otherwise.
