US troops serving in elite units such as the Navy SEALs are increasingly forced to tap into their own money to buy crucial gear like helmets, GPS trackers and medical supplies as the service fails to supply them, a group complained to lawmakers. There may be a systemic problem in the supply chain, said Rep. Duncan Hunter, who is a Marine veteran, after the meeting held at the Capitol Hill last week, Stars and Stripes reported. "It’s been impossible for me to find out how the money is getting stopped and why it is not going down to where it’s supposed to be,” he said. The funny thing about this is that they are probably getting better gear by paying for it with their own money. If I went special forces when I was in the navy, the first thing I would do would be to buy my own gear that I would trust more then government issued gear. The sad part about this is that gear that should be handed out to our special forces is starting to come up in short supply. So I bet anything that this money is going to something else by the Obama administration. Also under Republican leadership our elite forces not being supplied with gear they need would never happen.
