Amazon and other online retailers will soon begin accepting food stamps. The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced seven major retailers taking part in the pilot program that will allow SNAP participants to purchase their groceries online. The two-year pilot program will begin this summer in eight states. "Online purchasing is a potential lifeline for SNAP participants living in urban neighborhoods and rural communities where access to healthy food choices can be limited," USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack said. "We're looking forward to being able to bring the benefits of the online market to low-income Americans participating in SNAP." To start, only Amazon shoppers in Maryland, New Jersey, and New York will be able to make purchases using SNAP purchasing. The USDA said it anticipates expanding the program once it confirms the pilot operates as necessary. More than 43 million people currently participate in the SNAP program, nearly half of which are children. That's right America you read that right, people with our hard earned tax dollars will soon be able to use the SNAP food stamp program to purchase goods online. Now of course the USDA is stating this is for groceries, but I bet Amazon will allow food stamps to be used on all the consumer goods sold by Amazon. You can only bet this is one more middle finger by Obama, since he knows that food stamp purchases for items other than necessary food items will be purchased on Amazon.com...Which will likely lead to a pissed off American tax payer. Like really America since when is Amazon known for selling groceries, and now the USDA will now allow food stamp purchases on Amazon...So this means pretty soon maybe even starting today, where lazy Americans on food stamps will be allowed to buy video games, shoes, clothes, and other items besides food with the SNAP program now on Amazon. Yes Amazon has a food service, but I guarantee Amazon will allow purchases with SNAP cards other than food.
