It would put in place new reporting requirements to Congress and the public as to how the authority is used and against which groups.
“For far too long, Congress has abdicated its constitutional responsibility to authorize military action abroad, effectively ceding the war-making power to the executive branch,” said Congressman Adam Schiff (D-California) in a statement about the bill on Thursday. “More than 15 years later, our operations against group as diverse as the Taliban in Afghanistan, Al-Qaeda in Yemen, and ISIS in Syria are authorized under a 60 word authorization passed days after the attacks [on 9/11].”
Just calling out more Democrat stupidity with this move by Democrats now wanting Congressional authority for Trump to Bomb The Shit Out Of ISIS, because they didn't seem too mind Obama not having Congressional approval to drop tens of thousands of bombs in the middle east over his entire Presidency. Yes we must always approve the use of military force through Congress, but know that Democrats are simply playing politics with Constitutional Declaration Of War because it's Trump.
Democrats never ever seemed to mind Obama bombing the shit out of nations with only using the authority of the AUMF, which Democrats and Republicans allowed Obama to use and even increased the power in Obama's last days of his Presidency. Democrats who stood over Obama for all of his eight years have no right to talk about Congressional authority to go to war, when they stood by and watched Obama deliver tens of thousands of bombs with the usage of the AUMF...And unlike Trump at least Obama used the AUMF to Bomb The Shit Out Of ISIS instead of supporting the Islamic terrorist group.
