Applications for unemployment insurance fell 9,000 last week to 267,000, the 57th straight week below 300,000 and longest stretch since 1973, the Labor Department said Thursday. The four-week moving average of claims, which is a better gauge for the direction of the labor market, rose 3,500 to 266,750. Once again when it comes to the economy and jobs, the Federal government has no clue in what they are talking about. Jobless claims have remained steady at about 300 thousand for like the last two to four years, because 100 plus million people who are truly unemployed have given up in reporting their jobless position. When you see this number holding steady over the years, it's just more proof of the government not reporting the real numbers. The real numbers are simply not being reported due to that the government knows the economy is horrible, and though our ridiculous tax code they have created is really where you can put the blame on unemployment. It's not that people have given up looking for jobs, it's because people who are unemployed have given up in the system and are starting to realize that America's economy has been destroyed. You can't have a prosperous economy when you have 60 people battling it out for one job position. This is why people have quit reporting, because they are tired of jobs no longer being promised or taken away after inquiring the skills to do the job required. You wanna put blame on something for people moving from America in the masses, you can put it on the shoulders of the false strong economy that Washington still thinks we have.
