UN rights experts have voiced concerns over bills recently introduced by a number of US states aimed at restricting the right to assembly, saying they are “undemocratic” and violate international human rights obligations adopted by Washington.“Since January 2017, a number of undemocratic bills have been proposed in state legislatures with the purpose or effect of criminalizing peaceful protests,” the UN’s top experts on freedom of expression and freedom of assembly, David Kaye and Maina Kiai, said in a recent statement. The proposed bills, if approved “would severely infringe upon the exercise of the rights to freedom of expression and freedom of peaceful assembly,” the statement says, noting that it would be “incompatible with US obligations under international human rights law and with First Amendment protections.” “The trend also threatens to jeopardize one of the United States’ constitutional pillars: free speech.” According to the UN experts, since the presidential election in November, US lawmakers in at least 19 states have introduced legislation “restricting assembly rights by various degrees.” Well if the United Nations is slamming Americas new anti protests laws in nineteen states, then these laws must be doing something right. To be honest with the United Nations when it comes to our laws in America...Sorry United Nations but you don't rule America. The thing with protests around America mostly from Leftist activist groups they actually go against our nations 1st amendment rights regarding protests, because none of these protests have been peaceful...For when it comes to lawful protests protected by the first amendment they have been anything but lawful. Protests groups like Antifa and the anti Trump protests funded by George Soros have only been violent in behavior, which means per the 1st amendment none of these protests from Leftist socialist groups have been lawfully assembled. Everything from impeding traffic, beating up people who don't agree with the protests, to violating the peaceful assembly of Trump supporters by causing scenes at Trump rallies that the left deems as protesting...Has been unpeaceful, unlawful, and of course violent. Maybe if these were actually peaceful, lawful protest not being funded by leftist billionaires and groups maybe these laws against protests even though their not peaceful wouldn't need to be written in nineteen US states...Maybe the United Nations should just kick dirt when it comes to telling America how to handle itself, and maybe it's time for the United Nations to be kicked out of America for good.
