It instead removed him in a coup that was quickly reversed. After that, Mr. Chávez packed the military with allies. The military also gained vast patronage streams, which some local officials say include control over gold mining. The impossibility of fully predicting how the military might decide in another crisis, along with growing unrest that could again test it, has left the government nervous. All that may now be changing. In March, a video spread on social media showing three lieutenants who said they no longer recognized Mr. Maduro’s authority. The next month, they turned up in Colombia, where they requested asylum. The Venezuelan government has publicly demanded their return, which Mr. Levitsky called “pretty clear evidence that the government is worried about some sort of conspiracy” within the ranks.
Talk about a collapse of Socialism, when the Venezuelan military begins defecting to protest groups marching against the Socialist Venezuelan Government. This is just another case of why Socialism ultimately always fails, and the military marching with the anti Venezuelan government just shows the death that Socialism always comes to. If the Venezuelan military is already turning on the Socialist government of Maduro, then we likely have a major chance at ending the multitude of problems Venezuela has been under for nearly a decade now.
When a government tends to lose control of it's own military especially under a Socialist regime, then it's very likely the problems of Venezuela could soon come to an end. Just like the protesters the military members of the Venezuelan military all have families who suffering under the Socialist regime of Maduro...And the failure of Socialism is now showing in Venezuela with it's military now defecting to protest with anti Socialist protesters in Venezuela who once supported Socialism in the South American nation.
